From 1 car to another of another brand, the difference in the whole of life cost can be staggering. If you compared a Hyundai I30, with a Toyota Corolla with a Volkswagen Golf, you’d expect the only difference to be the price you pay. You’d be wrong. You need to take into account insurance, fuel economy, resale value, and if you want to improve your green credentials, think about the green rating too.

Quite often a new car buyer finds they’ve got a great deal on their new car only to find that this car has a different insurance rating than their old car.
